I usually walk you through my videos with text, but this one didn’t need it. 💜
The outside: lavender stems hand-painted one layer at a time — pink, purple, blue underglaze, tiny brushes. The inside: a glaze combo I’ll be repeating — Spectrum Bougainvillea as the base, Running Hot Chowder over it, and Amaco Iron Lustre on top, pooling wherever the kiln decided. She’s a beauty 🤍

She made it through the first firing. 🌻 All those hand-painted sunflowers survived beautifully — so I got brave. I’ve been wanting to try a sunset technique, layering underglaze inside the pot like a fading sky, and I’ve never done it before.
This felt like the piece to risk it on.
Outside got a coat of zinc-free clear, and now she’s back in line for the glaze kiln. The next time you see her, she’ll be finished — or she’ll be a lesson.

Remember the big pot from the warped bat saga? She survived — with a twist.

While trimming, my tool went straight through the floor. Twice. 😬

💛🧡 Instead of scrapping her, I leaned in: two clean drainage holes, a delicate sunflower transfer, and layers of hand-painted orange and yellow underglaze.

🫶🏼 She was never meant to be a planter, but she is now!

Off to the kiln. 🌻🔥

Fresh out of the kiln. 🥰
🪻 This is the same hand-painted lavender bowl after firing — I made 2 of a similar size/shape.
🖌️ I tend to always use a use Zinc Free Clear on the outside of hand painted pieces, I’ve gotten a better result than a regular clear (less cloudiness ☁️ ) -
The zinc free clear glaze deepens the pinks and purples and locks it all in glass.
🫟Painting it is patience; this is the payoff.

Come hand-paint lavender with me. 🪻
I start with a delicate rice paper transfer to lay down the lines, then switch to fine-tip brushes 🖌️ and build the color slowly - layering pinks, purples, and blues until it reads like a real lavender stem. No shortcut for this part. It’s just patience and a very small brush. 😅
Then she goes in the kiln. 🔥

Put a ring on it — literally. 💖💍

Hand-built this little ring holder, pressed in a cute watering can transfer, then hand-painted the flowers in pinks and purples. The handles got a soft pink glaze to match. The kind of piece that takes way longer than it looks like it should.
